Captain Fisher

My law enforcement career began in 1997 when I became a Public Safety Officer with the City of North Myrtle Beach. As a Public Safety Officer I was also a certified firefighter. After a short time as a public safety officer I was given the task of creating a new Community Services division. I was promoted to Sergeant over the new division which consisted of Crime Prevention, DARE, Animal Control, Code Enforcement, Neighborhood Crime Watch and community events.

While in the Community Services division I was tasked as a grant writer and the department’s Public Information Officer. The Community Services division created numerous new programs such as Shop with a Cop, Good Neighbor Program, Litter Rangers and Kid’s Corp, Spring Break Cleanup, Annual Community Chili Cook-off and numerous other programs.

As the head of the Community Services Division I helped coordinate all special events within the city and worked closely with many civic organizations. I was soon promoted to lieutenant and received 22 accommodations in my 12 years with the City of North Myrtle Beach. After leaving North Myrtle Beach I worked for a small community at the beach helping to clean up that community. Then, in 2011 I was offered a chance to interview with the City of Travelers Rest and was thrilled to become a member of this great team.

My main focus has always been in the area of community policing and beautification. I feel it is vital that we make positive and lasting connections with the community we serve. If we can make positive connections and work closely with community groups and residents, there is nothing that we cannot accomplish. I also love the beautification aspect of policing and hold an advanced degree in that area. I love to work with organizations that focus on livability issues within the community. I feel the police can have a positive impact on the community they serve if they focus on livability issues and making the community a better place for both residents and visitors.

I look forward to the opportunity of serving as Captain with some of the best law enforcement officers that I have ever had the privileged to serve with. It was God’s plan that my wife and I came to Travelers Rest and we feel blessed every day to live in TR. My door is always open and I am always ready to listen to new ideas and suggestions you may have to help our police department serve you even better. Please feel free to stop in and visit me anytime.
