Police Officer duties include, but are not limited to, rotating twelve hour shifts performing security patrols, traffic accident investigation, and investigation and arrest of persons involved in criminal activity. Communications duties involve fixed twelve hour shifts within our communications center, receiving and dispatching calls for service utilizing multiple radio channels and phone lines, and monitoring the City Hall surveillance camera system.
Salary & Benefits
Most of our team members are paid at an hourly rate with opportunities for overtime. While salaries are dependent upon qualifications and experience, our police officers earn from $29,313 to $42,339. Communications specialists earn from $25,864 to $38,491.
Annual leave is accrued at a rate specified by the City of Travelers Rest personnel manual. Sick leave is earned at a rate of one day per month, and the City also observes ten paid holidays per year.
Health, dental, and life insurance are provided at no cost to our employees. There are options for extending coverage to our families, and the City covers half of that cost.

- Must have a SC driver's license with a clean driving record
- Must have a clear criminal history with no criminal convictions or pleas prior to conviction
