Originally
home to several Indian tribes, including the Catawba, the Creek, and the Cherokee, Travelers Rest gained notoriety as a stopover for weary travelers and livestock drovers. Ensconced in South Carolina’s northern Greenville County at the intersection of Highways 25 and 276, Travelers Rest sits at
the feet of the Blue Ridge Mountains, yet is only a few hours
from the Atlantic Ocean.
Like our city, the Travelers Rest Police Department boasts a colorful history dating back to America’s early years, and all indications are that the next decade promises to be an unprecedented period of growth for us. The one-man department of 1891 is a distant memory as we enter the new millennium with a vibrant team of police officers and support staff dedicated to giving area citizens and visitors alike the highest level of service and protection we can provide.
