Sadly, this convenience comes with a dark side and parents have to be sharper than ever in an ever-changing world of text messaging, social networking sites, and cryptic acronyms. In 2009 the Travelers Rest Police Department joined the SC Attorney General's Office's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force. Officer Tracy Klarman accepted the duty of spearheading our agency's efforts to keep kids safe on the Web. Officer Klarman has received numerous hours of training and (through a grant provided by the Attorney General’s office) the TRPD was able to order a state of the art computer system for her to use in her mission to protect children from dangerous predators.
